Welcome to StudioK Photography & Design by Tara Burgess Kea!
I have long had a passion for photography! Even as a young girl with a 110 camera from Santa Claus, my parents had to put me on a “film allowance”. However, for years, photography was only a serious habit. Until the birth of my first son, I had never seriously considered a career as a photographer. Until I began my wonderful adventure as a professional photographer, I focused my professional attention on the business world. I am a graduate of Old Dominion University and hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. My photography education consists mainly of self study, however, I continually complete many classes and workshops in photography each year to improve upon my skill and enhance my talents. …but, have found, experience to be the best teacher!
My passion and interest for photography was brought back to life with the birth of my son, when I promptly (within hours even!) began documenting his young life in pictures! Nearly 8 years later, I thank God everyday that I’ve been able to turn this passion into a “job”. I have been immeasurably blessed with a family support system unlike no other and the BEST clients ever! The support that I’ve received from the very beginning has been a most humbling experience. I am now the busy mother of two high spirited little boys, one aging “Boo-Boo Dog”, and one off the chain rambunctious Lab puppy and married to my high school sweetheart for 13 years-add in the gloriously busy studio and wedding calendar and there’s never a dull moment! But, we wouldn’t change a thing! Other than being consumed by my family (and yours!): I also have a deep affection for all things chocolate. Cupcakes, sweet iced tea and homemade ice cream always seem to ruin my attempts at low carb living. Shoes…I really love shoes…and feel sure the leopard print stilettos are worth every blister! I believe that just because you can keep up with The Young and the Restless by watching once a month, doesn’t mean that you should actually only watch it once a month. Pretty sure there’s little that a good day at the beach can’t fix. And, I like pink…a lot.
With me, your satisfaction is paramount. I will do all that is necessary to ensure that you have a pleasant experience and are thrilled with the final product.
I have a relaxed, laid back approach to photography. I believe in letting the moments happen, rather than forcing a moment that in years to come will not be representative of who the subject really was. While the chain store, posed, “say cheese” pictures certainly have their place, I much prefer to capture you…being you!
